Hannibal Episode 3 Recap: Potage (or Hey Whered Ya Get That Purse?)

Episode 3 is entitled "Potage". Potage: A thick, often creamy soup. [French] Damn you "Hannibal" for making me learn new stuff!

Abigail wakes up from the coma she's been in since episode 1. For those not watching the show, her father (Garret Hobbs) killed 7 girls and her mother and slashed Abigail's throat. He was then shot by Will. I thought Abigail was working with her father all along. It seems she is innocent though.

She unwittingly accepted gifts from her father made from the dead girls. When she cut open her purse and it was stuffed with human hair, that was really freaky. She learns that she was eating the victims as well. Oh dear! At the end of the episode she is in the clutches of Hannibal (whom she now knows is a killer and that he called to warn her father). Hannibal appears to be able to manipulate anyone into doing anything. Carla Day from tv buddy, com coined the perfect term for it with "Hannipulation". I like it! Poor Abigail is going to need some serious therapy.

In order to frame the first victim's brother, Hannibal kills Abigail's friend Marissa. What did Marissa ever do to anyone? Abigail accidentally stabs the brother and then Hannibal hides his body.  This all seems like too much work to me. And how about when Hannibal knocked Bloom unconscious? I don't think it's that easy. I may have to test on someone and report back to you on the results.

Quote of the week: "Use it all, or it’s murder"- Hobbs to Abigail. I'm all for reduce, reuse, recycle but I'm pretty sure they weren't referring to dead girls.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). Another excellent nail biting show. PS That Hannibal is one snappy dresser. And Gillian Anderson arrives next week as Hannibal's therapist. I can't wait!
