The Americans (FX) Episode 9 “Safe House” – Philip and Elizabeth are put to the test when a routine mission goes horribly wrong. Stan and the FBI are pushed to their limit when one of their own goes missing.
The first 10 minutes of the episode is dedicated to Liz and Lip telling their children that they are "putting the pause button" on their relationship. Phillip moves out and is staying at a hotel. Kudos to the kids for some great acting.
Am I the only one that finds Martha pitiful? She says she's waited her whole life for "Clark" and he's just "pumping" her for information. How sad.
The FBI plans to kill a KGB agent in retaliation for last week's explosion (that killed 3 agents and a scientist). Stan shoots Vlad in the back of the head even though he really didnt know anything .
Chris Amador catches Phillip coming out of Martha's apartment. He wants to take Phillip downtown. He first pulls a gun and then a knife on him. Lip manages to stab Chris instead and takes him to a safe house. They are trying to get info out of him but Chris dies from his injuries. That seems far too easy to me. How bout you? I thought Amador getting closer to discovering Liz and Lip would play out over several episodes.
Who do Phillip and Elizabeth think those disguises are fooling? No one, that's who. Gmonster in a blonde wig and glasses is still recognizable as Gmonster.
Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). Not one of my most favorite episodes but they cant all be my favorites. The Americans is still one of the best shows on TV.
