There are only two more episodes until the mid season finale. The show returns at the end of January 2015. This episode was entitled "He Deserved To Die". While the other episodes have focused on the law students, this one is Rebecca centric. Annalise is still defending Rebecca against the Lila murder charge.
The flash forward of this episode is "two weeks previously" when Wes takes Rebecca back to her motel to clean the blood off her face after Sam's murder. What was she doing that close to him that she was sprayed with blood? She offers to take the fall for Sam's murder too since she's already being tried for Lila's. But Wes (the big dummy) thinks she's innocent.
The Prosecution Calls Assistant Warden Figueroa From "Orange Is The New Black"
Rebecca is being depicted by the media (fed by the prosecution) as a horrible person with no morals. From what I've seen of her, they might not be too far off. She's busy trying to be a bad ass and acting all cavalier about the murder. Remember Griffin (Liza's boyfriend) is also being tried for the crime. To counteract his lawyer's depiction of her, Annalise has Rebecca say that Griffin raped her (which has no basis in truth whatsoever).
How Are You Going To Get Out Of This One Sam... Die Or Something?
The prosecution wants to exhume Lila's body (but neither the defense for each party nor Lila's family wants this). The judge ends up ordering it anyway. Scenes of the autopsy are intercut between Wes and Rebecca having sex. I could have done without seeing that. It was creepy and not in any way enjoyable. Please, no more.
One previous suggestion was that the marks on Lila's neck were from a hand print. The coroner determines that it was instead ant bites. In the typically end of the episode reveal, Bonnie tells Annalise that Lila was six months pregnant. She turns and looks at Sam. Uh oh.
There's no separate case of the week this time around. It's 100% Rebecca trial.
The Crew
In other Keating 5 news, Connor makes out in the bathroom but still pines over Oliver. Laurel leads her boyfriend to believe she'll quit Annalise to help him in legal aid (but we know that wont happen). Laurel later makes out with Frank. Michaela gets the prenup terms from her future in laws. Wes opens up a little bit about himself to Rebecca. Definitely dont feed him any peanut butter cups!
Who Is The Real Wes?
Nate meets with Annalise and tells her he knows they planted Lila's phone on Griffin. He later confronts Rebecca and says he knows who killed Sam. What is he really up to? We didnt see too much of Bonnie this week but that doesnt mean she wasnt up to something.
Annalise Is Not Taking Any Of Your Crap!
Favorite Quotes:
- "Oh my God I hate her."- Laurel about Rebecca. Me too Laurel, me too.
- "Speak of the devil and she shall appear."- Annalise.
- "You forgot his name and hes still into you? What do you have, some sort of voodoo penis? Im so freaking mad I wasnt born gay."- Asher about Connor.
- "You slut, you white trash killer, You made Griffin strangle that girl. That's the kind of girl you are."-Annalise going off on Rebecca but its because she wants her to know what the public thinks.
- "I tried to give you an out. Dont forget that when this all this goes to hell."- Nate to Annalise.
- "I know you didnt kill Lila Stangard. We both know who did. Help me catch HIM."- Nate to Rebecca. OK so if this is true then 1: Its not Rebecca; 2. Its a him.
Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). i dont really like Rebecca so was not particularly interested in this episode. I vote they pin the murder on her and call it a day. I'm sure she's guilty of something.
