Law And Order SVU Season 15 Episode 22 Recap: Arrivals And Departures (Season Finale)

zap2it.com

"Spring Awakening" is the last episode of season 15. I must say, for a season finale, it seemed pretty tame. Perhaps episode 20 "Beast's Obsession" should have been the finale instead.

Anyway, back to the story. Detective John Munch makes a surprise visit to the precinct. Amaro roughs up a photographer (who might die) and the IAB is called to investigate. In the case of the week, someone is raping and robbing foreign tourists. The men answer an ad for "company" on CraigsList. A woman arrives at the hotel. She orders a bottle of champagne. But instead of room service, her partner robs and sodomizes the victims. The woman acts traumatized but she's actually part of the scam.

Meanwhile Olivia is following the case of a Baby Boy Doe who has been moved from foster home to foster home. It turns out the woman from the tourist robbery case (whose real name is Ellie) is actually the mother of the baby.  Ellie thought the baby (Noah) was dead. Her pimp Tino had sold him to a group of pornographers. The team raids their house and frees a number of women and children. Everyone is afraid of Tino and refuses to testify. Olivia finally talks Ellie into doing it in exchange for rehab and seeing her son.

In the other story line, we find out Wilkes (the photographer) will recover from his injuries but Nick may still go to jail. That guy sure gets in trouble a lot. Munch visits him and pays his bail. Munch must have a lot of money these days. Amanda tells Wilke's wife that if she doesnt support Amaro's claim of self defense, her husband will go to jail. She has already sent him child porno which he will eventually download and then they'll have him.

Murphy has departed SVU (at least for now). He's actually moving over to "Gotham". That man is all over the place this year-- "Sons of Anarchy", "Vikings". "SVU" and I'm not sure what all else.

Ellie is a witness at Tino's trial. Unfortunately she gets scared and runs off during the night. They find her body. She has been gang raped and murdered. Tino's girls says it wasnt him so who was behind this crime? Maybe we'll learn next season?

Now Noah is completely alone again. During the hearing to place him, the judge suggests that Olivia become his foster mother and, if all goes well, she can adopt him in a year. Benson seems stunned by the suggestion but accepts. In the final scene we see her with the baby. She looks content (and it's about time she had something to be happy about).

Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). I enjoyed seeing Munch again. I miss his conspiracy-behind-every-corner personality. Can he rejoin the unit, please? For a season finale, "Spring Awakening" didnt seem to have much kick. "Law & Order: SVU" has been renewed for a 16th season. Will this be the final one? I always enjoy watching the show but after 16 years  I'm not sure there's much more they can explore.
