Warehouse 13 Season 5 Episode 6 Recap: Endless Tap Dancing (Series Finale)

The Gang (Minus Pete, Who Is Off Processing His Emotions)

After five seasons, we have come to the end of "Warehouse 13". Was it everything you had hoped for? Here's the highlights:

It appears Warehouse 13 has reached the end of it's life and is transforming into Warehouse 14 (which will be located in China). Everyone gathers around King Arthur's round table so it can extract their favorite memories for perpetuity. This also serves as a showcase for scenes we havent seen previously.

Flashback to H.G. Wells capturing Jack the Ripper's lantern in 1800's London. She declares that Warehouse 12 will never move because "the sun will never set on the empire". H.G. is also later referenced when they said she divorced her husband and is currently dating a woman named Giselle. I love you Jaime Murray?

The tap dancing sequence was my absolute favorite. The warehouse is overrun by tap dancing show girls. If the 42nd Street marquee is not dimmed, everyone will dance to their deaths. This also gives Allison Scagliotti a chance to showcase her dancing skills. I was exhausted after watching the scene and needed to take a nap.

Myka's favorite memory is fighting off a group of 1960s suburban housewife ninja cat burglars with Pete. That was a lot of fun. The dialogue about who was secretly doing what was also hilarious.

Pete and Myka finally declare their love for each other. I have mixed feelings about this pairing since it was thrust upon us out of the blue. I still prefer Myka and H.G. together but alas that wasnt meant to be. At least Pete and Myka dont have to be alone.

We find out Artie has a son. OK then, thanks for telling us. Artie later has it out with the warehouse saying he's devoted his life to it. It finally throws him an apple and acknowledges it likes him.

Mrs Frederic shares a number of her stories with Jinks but we dont get to see any of them. Curses! I always want to know more about Mrs F. There is a touching memorial to Leena. Jinks says he felt like he never fit in but the warehouse helped him find peace. His best memory is when he and Claudia had to shrink down to enter Artie's body to remove a clock artifact from his heart.

Claudia confesses that she doesnt not want to be the caretaker now (but instead wants to stay an agent). There is a flash forward to "several decades later" when she apparently is the caretaker. Claudia (who like Mrs Frederic has never aged) pops in to check on the warehouse's current agents who are the newest versions of Artie, Pete and Myka. They refer to Claudia as "Ms D". They are dealing with Obama's basketball. Too funny. However I was confused here. So they're still at Warehouse 13 and havent moved onto Warehouse 14? OK then. When did our team leave and under what circumstances? This must be the longest transition plan in the history of the universe.

Lots of artifacts are referenced-- Harriet Tubman's thimble, Jack The Ripper's lantern, Busby Berkley’s flask, Goodman Beggar’s tin pan, Thomas Wedgewood’s champagne glass, a ceramic five-tailed fox statue, the 42nd Street marquee, etc.

Grade: 5 Monsters (out of 5). I still have issues with the Pete/Myka lovefest, but all in all, I thought it was a very appropriate bittersweet ending. Yes, some of the big reveals in this episode could have been fleshed out earlier in the season.-- instead of visiting a medieval faire or doing a Spanish soap opera. But what can ya do? And for the record, I seriously loved the "Savage Seductions" episode. How do you feel about "Endless" and the end of the series? Please post your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. Have to say, I loved this series. The concept, characters, artifacts, everything. I agree, the view of the future was a bit confusing, but keep in mind: it WAS several decades later. Artie and the rest might have left on their own at any point in the intervening years. I think it was more of a 'The Warehouse may move, but it'll always stay the same' type thing.
My least favorite part of the episode was oddly also my favorite: Wedgwood's glass. Great artifact concept, but so many loopholes.
As to the Pete/Myka business, it was hardly out of the blue. A) it had been working up to it the entire season, and B) I recently introduced a friend of mine to the show. Episode one, he asked when Pete and Myka would hook up. The underlaying tension/hints have been there for a long time. Example: the wish granting dog tags only work on people the wielder cares deeply for/loves, and Pete uses it on Myka, if unwittingly.

That all said, I love this show, and am immensely saddened that it's finished. I am, however, glad that I was able to tag, snag, and bag one of the artifacts for myself!
