Resurrection Episode 8 Recap: I Hate You Fred Langston (Season Finale)

In "Torn Apart" hundreds of the undead arrive in Arcadia. Hmm what to do with them? How bout we round em up and lock them in the high school for safe keeping?  Meanwhile Rachel (who, after being murdered by Gary, has returned for a second time) goes to the morgue and views her body. That's gotta be creepy.

Maggie confronts her mother about hiding at Sam's house. This is not the happy reunion she was hoping for. Barbara visits Fred. She tells him their marriage is over. I would think he already knew that because she is, you know, DEAD. But Fred says he's OK with her being with Sam. LIAR, LIAR, PANTS ON FIRE!

I'm secretly crying on the inside.

Henry and Lucille have dinner with the couple they met in the park. They were killed in a flood and are hoping their son returned as well. He has a crescent birthmark on the back of his neck.

And here comes the military. We knew they'd show up sooner or later. They were sent by Bellamy's boss Toni. The commanding officer, Colonel Stone, thinks their mission is to assist with a power outage. Fred shows him Rachel's body. "They dont die Colonel and they're dangerous. One already murdered someone. People think they're their loved ones but they're not" says Fred. "What do you propose we do" replies the Colonel. "I say we protect the living instead of the dead." And now we know Fred is SO NOT OK with Barbara kicking him to the curb. You suck Fred. Get some therapy, a gallon of ice cream and cry it out like everyone else. Barbara said you had a dark side and now we believe her.

Important announcement, my ass. Quick run for your undead lives!

So the police and the military attempt to round up all the "deadies". Bellamy, sensing something is wrong, pulls the fire alarm and a number of people escape. Tom takes Rachel and the Thompson family to his ex-fiance's house and asks for her help. Still inside the high school are Barbara, Maggie (who is under arrest) and the local busybody Helen (who has found a relative Eva among the undead).

Bellamy had already warned Henry and Lucille not to take Jacob to the high school. He hurries to their house and tells them of the situation. They ask him to take Jacob and leave town. That was a very touching scene. Fred then arrives looking for Jacob. Lucille slaps him. You go girl!

As they drive out of town, Bellamy stops for what looks like a dead swarm of cicadas in the road. Dude, you really shouldnt stop for anything. Just then a helicopter and a bunch of government vehicles surround them. And we see that Bellamy has a crescent scar on his neck.

What does it all mean? Is everyone in the town already dead and they dont know it? Does the town just reappear every 17 years (like the cicadas)? Is Bellamy a deadie or the missing son? It doesnt seem like he's old enought to be their son.

Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). A good solid season finale with some surprises I didnt see coming. What's in store for season 2?
