Once Upon A Time Episode 19 Recap: Have Half A Heart

rebloggy.com

Is it just me or is this curse thing getting a little out of hand? I think we're on curse overload at this point. Anyway here's a basic overview of what happened during "A Curious Thing":

Regina and Robin are happy so that's all I care about. For a woman without a heart, Regina is doing VERY well. She's started a relationship after many years of being alone. She has buried the hatchet with her arch nemesis Snow White. She was even protective of Snow's baby in the last episode. Maybe she should try going without a heart permanently. And yes I am STILL firmly Team Swan Queen but if that cant happen, at least Regina can be happy.

There is lots of running around in this episode (both in Storeybrooke and FairyTaleLand). The good news is the missing year is finally revealed.

It is determined that Henry must believe in order to break the curse. Problem is they cant find the book of fairy tales that made him believe in the first place. Off to the loft they all go. Snow finds it in a suitcase after Emma misses it. Meanwhile Hook keeps Henry from running away to New York. Hook is also kidnapped by Zelena who tells him to kiss Emma to enact the curse or else.

Back in FTL the gang finds Rumple and he tells them the way to stop the curse is "light magic". Why this has to be differentiated from regular old magic, I'm not sure (except that this sends them on yet another quest). Look! There's a a mysterious door/portal. Let's walk through it. Charming and Snow make it to the frozen other side (but Regina does not). Its because her heart is full of vengeance. She huffs and puffs. That was a funny scene. On the other side of the door the Charmings meet Glinda. She says her magic was never powerful enough to defeat Zelena. However if someone has powerful light magic they can defeat Zelena by taking her broach (which is the source of her power). So the Charming's need Emma but she's in New York. They know a way. They will enact the dark curse.

Snow throws David's heart in the cauldron. Zelena shows up and throws in a memory spell for good measure. Snow has a brilliant idea and asks Regina to take her heart and give half to David. This works. Now they each have half a heart and half a brain. Opps sorry for the snarky comment.

Back at the Storeybrooke docks, flying monkeys attack. They are repealed by everyone by either by gun, sword, or magic fire ball. I cant keep track.. Zelena shows up and threatens Henry. Emma out-magics her. Henry touches the book. Now he remembers. Regina kisses him on the head. Everyone remembers the missing year. We learn that the Neal half of RumpleNeal is who sent the potent to Hook to give to Emma.

And the baby is on it's way. Quick everyone to the hospital. I hope they dont get a flying monkey for a nurse. They are the worst. Speaking of monkeys, do we know is Aurora and Prince Phillip were among the monkeys that were killed at the docks? How can you tell flying monkeys apart?

Favorite Quotes:

"Where you come from people bathe in the river and use pine cones for money."- Regina to Robin back in FTL (she doesnt know she loves him yet).

"I never liked pets."- Regina as she wiped out a few flying moneys.

"You can call me Auntie Zelena."- Zenelna to Henry as she threatens to kill him.

"Memories are pain. Pain is strength."- RumpleNeal.

Grade: 3 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). Not my most favorite episode. It seemed like the plot was recycled. I'm sure it will be better next week.
