Believe Episode 1 Recap: No Defense Against Screaming Teenage Girls (Season Premiere)

The first episode of "Believe" premiered Monday at 9 ET on NBC. A young girl named Bo is in a car with what turns out to be her foster parents of 2 weeks. The car is pushed off an embankment. A woman emerged and killed the husband and wife by snapping their necks. Ouch! Before she can take (or harm) the girl, others arrive so mission aborted. The girl is taken to the hospital.

The scene changes to a prison where an inmate is about to be executed. A priest arrives with a deal. Come work with us and you can live. He must decide within two minutes. Tate agrees since he wants to live. He is helped to escape through the sewer system. That couldnt be fun.

Tate is sent to the hospital to retrieve the girl. He cries when he first meets her. Bo says "You know why you were crying? You remembered your were good once." Crazy Woman Assassin wants to go see her mother for her birthday but Mean Rich Guy tells her she has to the hospital NOW! She disguises herself as a doctor and has a smackdown with Tate. Tate is on the losing end of the battle. Luckily Bo injects the baddie (who is apparently named Leeds) with something which slows her down and blurs her vision. Tate and Bo escape to a warehouse where they again meet up with the priest (Milton Winter whom Bo knows already) and two other people. (Hello Mulan from "Once Upon A Time". I wondered where you were. Here comes Leeds again. She just doesnt give up does she? Bo screams which unleashes a flock of birds that pummel the baddy while they make their escape. Apparently Leeds does not know what we all do. Screaming teenage girls trump every other weapon known to man.

Tate is now in charge of protecting Bo (and oh and did we mention he's her father)? Tate was injured in the warehouse and needs medical attention. Bo finds the address of the doctor she met in the hospital. They go to his house and the doctor stitches Tate up. Bo tells the doctor not to give up medicine. He must save Senga (which is Agnes backwards). She also tells him that his father (who cant speak) is proud of him.

Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). I didnt have any expectations about the show so was pleasantly surprised. The fight scenes, acting and special effects were good. Is there enough meat in the story to sustain it long term? I'm not sure but I'll check back again. I'd like to find out what special powers Bo has (besides telepathy and levitation) and why everyone is after her. What did you think of the first episode of "Believe"?
