Naked And Afraid Episode 10 Recap: Man (And Woman) Vs Amazon

This episode is entitled "Man Vs Amazon" and it was a rough one. Note: Episode 10 is also listed as Season 2 episode 2 so who knows how to keep track of this show. 

AK is a stay at home mother from Alabama with Native American history recreation training. Her first partner quit the first day. Tyler was brought him to replace him. He's is from Las Vegas and has previous military experience.

Their biggest challenge in the first nights were the horrible mosquitoes (since they couldnt get the fire going). AK called it quits after 4 days. This left Tyler alone. He successfully crosses the river (which is infested with piranha). After being continually barraged by mosquitoes he called it quits after 6 days.  

The second couple that enters the Amazon are familiar to viewers. EJ survived Africa and Laura survived Panama. This makes for a whole different ballgame since these two know what it takes. They find the first campsite which was surrounded on three sides by water. No wonder the mosquitoes were so horrible. They were in the middle of a mosquito breeding colony.  

Laura and AJ move their camp but again are attacked by relentless mosquitoes. EJ accidentally cuts himself with the machete and requires stitches. A jaguar approaches. Next they battle a boa constrictor but he gets away. 

EJ kills an electric eel but he and Laura get in a tussle about "how" he killed the eel. She wanted him to kill it in a compassionate way and felt EJ was mocking her. This is one of the things I really like about EJ though. He apologizes if he thinks he was wrong and is a sensitive guy. We saw him do the same thing in his first appearance. He is a real team player. Some other guys would have been like screw you, I'm hungry. 

They build a raft so they can make their nine mile journey to the extraction point. A horrible storm approaches though and they almost succumb to hypothermia in the night. These two arent quitters though and trudge along together though and they finally make it. What excellent role models.
