Helix Episode 12 Recap: Being Immortal Means Never Having To Say Youre Sorry

Day 12 at Arctic Biosystems. The Scythe (ie Spencer) and his sidekicks arriving yesterday. I thought they would be kicking some serious ass kicking. Instead most of the episode was ho hum with a few good scenes. Here's the highlights:
  • Julia and Sarah bond over being immortal. Julia gives Sarah some contacts so she doesnt keep scaring the other survivors with her freaky eyes. We find out Hatake is 513 years old.
  • Daniel leaves the bunker to investigate. He tells Alan and Hatake about all the bodies in the elevator. They put everyone in body bags. Uh I'm sorry but you're all about to be killed. You dont have time to bag and tag anyone.
  • The Scythe is really just an irritating 16 year old boy (who has been 16 for a few centuries). Turns out his mommy is Sutton. Why so upset? Her head is still out in the snow head bank. Go dig it up and put in on someone else.
  • The Farragut brothers still have issues. Mom liked you best!
  • I really dont care about the Anna/Sergio/Tulok story line. This seems like filler to me.
  • After Teenage Scythe puts kill collars on Julia and Daniel, Hatake must chose between his two children. What do you do in that case? Daniel chooses for him and explodes. That was really sad. And will Julia's finger grow back or is she stuck with 9 fingers for all of eternity? Also why in the world did Daniel give the virus to Spencer? I really hope it's a trick.
  • What's in the box? I thought it was going to be an alien or monster (which would show what the immortals really looked liked). Instead it's Julia's monster Jayde? OK then. Not sure where that is going.
  • The Scythe's directives at the beginning of the episode were: 1. Retrieve and deliver cure back to Ilaria; 2. Capture and return Hatake Alive; 3. Terminate all others. OK then get on with it. You only have one day left.
  • I really hope they tell us what the Willis hypothesis is. It's been mentioned like 10 times.

Grade: 3 1/2  Monsters (out of 5). I was hoping for a better episode. Next week better be a good one since it's the season finale. Does anyone know if there will be a season 2?
