In present day Storeybrooke people are disappearing. They apparently are turning into Flying Monkeys. Who knew? Snow encounters a midwife named Zelena (and of course Snow is with child). She agrees to help Snow with the birth... BAD IDEA SNOW!!!! And can new people just pop up and no one notice? Hey we've all been trapped in this town together for 50 years. How is it I never met you? And why do we need a midwife? There arent any children in Storeybrooke (except Henry).
Emma and Regina are finally working together (thank you Jesus!) in order to trap the person responsible for the latest curse. They send Grumpy into the diner to say that Regina is restoring everyone's memories to clear her name. Emma and Regina go on a stakeout to wait for the culprit. This requires lots of alone time. Yummy. The mastermind was in Regina's office but escaped before they could catch him/her. Hmmm how could this be?
In other Storeybrooke news, Red is back but only for a guest appearance because she's on CBS's "Intelligence". Mulan is not back because she's over on NBC's "Believe". Neal is missing again but no one seems to care.
Back in the Enchanted Forest (and one year earlier) Regina and Robin Hood (who is supposed to be Regina's future love interest, boooooooo!) access an underground tunnel in hopes of breaking the protection spell around the castle. They see the door to Cora's crypt is open. How can that be? Regina creates a potent to put herself to sleep (since living without Henry is too painful). Before she can prick her finger the Wicked Witch arrives. There is lots of verbal sparing. And then WW lays it all on the line. She is Regina's sister. Cora abandoned her in Oz and now she's going to make Regina pay. Why? I dont know. It's not like Regina did that to her. Anyway that makes Regina perk up and she finally has a reason to live again. It is to destroy the Wicked Witch... wheeeee!!!!
And in the final scene Zelena takes a meal to someone in an underground cage. And is it... yes it is. It is Rumplestilskin in all his glory.
The convoluted OUAT family tree just keeps growing and growing. I bet Thanksgiving Dinner is very uncomfortable at their house. Here's the highlights:
- Rumple's son Neal/Baefire is Henry's father so Rumple is Henry's grandfather.
- Snow White and Prince Charming are his other grandparents. Emma is of course Henry's birth mother. Prince Charming (ie David Charming) and his twin brother James were adopted/bought by King George.
- Snow is Regina's stepdaughter. Regina married Snow's father King Leopold. Snow's mother was Queen Eva. Regina is also Henry's adoptive mother.
- Cora is Regina's mother and was a love interest of Rumple's. Did they have any children together? I assume Regina is Henry's daughter (since that's what we were previously told).
- Peter Pan is Rumple's father (so is Henry's great grandfather)
- The Wicked Witch is Regina's sister but we dont know who her father is? Could it be Rumple or even King Leopold (Snow's father)? My guess would be Rumple since both her and Zelena are differently colored (he's sparkly gold and she's green).
- Hook was Rumple's wife Milah's love interest (but they never married).
- Now if only Emma and Regina could get together, my life would be complete.
Favorite Quotes:
- "Bring it on Greenie!"- Regina to WW after she says she will destroy her. And Zelena apparently means "green" in Bulgarian. Well done OUAT, well done.
- Snow tells Henry she was in prison with his mother for "banditry". That was funny.
- "It is one thing I have not had in a very long time-- someone to destroy."- Regina on her newfound reason to live.
- "Feed the madness and it feeds on your"- Rumple
- "Im a doctor, not a vet"- Dr Whale on what to do about the flying monkeys.
- "With you, Regina, I always know when you’re lying.”- Emma to Regina. Oh the feels!
- "Next you’re going to tell me there’s really a chick with freakishly long hair in a tower somewhere.”- Emma. Stay tuned Emma, the season isnt over yet. Anything is possible.
Grade: 4 1/2 Monsters (out of 5). I think this was my most favorite episode of the season. After being stuck on that stupid island forever, I am ready for heavy duty witch fighting!
