"The Truth Shall Set You Free"- Ichabd to Abbie while in Dream Land
OK so the episode is really entitled "For The Triumph Of Evil" but I like mine better. After three episodes how are you feeling about "Sleepy Hollow"? I think its great fun.
In this episode residents are being knocked off by a creepy demon who visits them in their sleep. Oh and they turn all "white eyed" before they off themselves. So if you see someone with no pupils, you should briskly walk away without drawing their attention.
It seems many of the "soon to be dead" people know Abby and are trying to send her a message. She didn't tell the truth about what she/Jenny saw in the woods when they were teenagers. For those who don't haven't seen the previous episodes, Abbie's sister Jenny has been locked in a mental hospital since the woods incident (because everyone thought she was crazy).
Next Ichabod and Abbie are off to the archives (cause I guess you cant find this kind of stuff on the internet). The demon is a Mohawk Indian dream monster named Rochoronties. I'll keep calling him "Sandman" since I can't spell that other thing. He visits people who let bad things happen to others and causes them to commit suicide. Sidebar: Sandman is really is good shape. I'd like to see what his workout regiment is.
How do they stop the demon? They need a Mohawk shaman. Abbie apparently knows one Mohawk person (who has a used car lot named "Geronimotors" down on Route 5). When they approach, he is definitely NOT interested. Luckily Ichy wears him down with his passion and patriotism. That "all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing” quote obviously had an effect.
So Abbey must defeat Sandman in dream land. Ichy joins her by drinking some funky tea (PS he hates energy drinks). Apparently to enter the dream world they have to strip down to their undies (not that I'm complaining) and get stung by scorpions. Who knew? I usually just go to sleep when I want to dream. Anyhow they confront the demon, he throws some sand at Ichy, Abbie confesses to Sandman that she was a coward, he turns to glass and she shatters him with a chair. That seemed a little too easy didn't it?
At the end of the episode Abbie goes to apologize to her sister but she has escaped the mental institution. My guess is Jenny is now out helping Sarah Connors fight off the terminators. Remember you CAN change the future.
"Sleepy Hollow" may not be a great piece of literary work but, if you take it for what its worth, it's great fun. Ichabod and Abbie have good chemistry together. The dialogue is quirky and the show has just the right amount of horror and camp.
Grade: 4 Monsters (out of 5). "Sleepy Hollow" is fun, light entertainment. I'm hoping Sandman does NOT visit me in my sleep.
